I have a new life and am incredibly blessed. My sons are healthy, smart, empathetic, and athletic. My friends and family stood by my side without exception. My parents are amazing and teach me so much to this day. My girlfriend, Diana, is an absolutely incredible, beautiful human being. She has faced serious health challenges of her own and we are strong together. Her kindness and warm heart shifted me from recovering, back to living. I am in a unique position to advise dozens of people who have suffered injuries similar to mine. Doing that has become especially important to me.
My lessons learned from my experience are to never quit on yourself, be humble and kind. You never know what somebody is going through in their life. Just be nice.
But, enough about me. The rest of the story is told by the woman who stood by me from day one, protected me, spent countless hours at the hospital and in rehab. She worried about me and loved me no matter what. The title of her book is, “The Possibilities are Endless,” which tells the full story.
We don’t get to choose our mothers, but I believe I got the best one. As a parent, I can’t imagine what my mom felt as she watched me suffer. I admire her strength and determination to tell her story and I love her with all of my heart.
Lucky me.
